County Service Areas
Special districts are local governments that are separate from cities and counties, yet provide public services such as fire protection, sewers, water, and street lighting. A county service area is a type of dependent special district that is governed by the county board of supervisors. Today, there are over 890 CSAs in California, and of that total, 69 CSAs are located within Butte County.
